It was always going to be hard to look past RVP for top scorer this season, but what happens if/WHEN he gets injured? The top of the TOP GOALSCORER market is dominated by the big names like RVP, Torres, Tevez and Aguero…none of whom are in Golden Boot form at this early point in the season.

One man who has been is Demba Ba, who is the current top scorer and who moved from 20/1 to 12/1 over the weekend after his brace at Reading. His early form hasn’t been reflected in his long price. Why? Well, with competition from Papiss Cisse et al at Newcastle, Ba won’t be the only one banging in the Toon goals this season. And while you can expect Newcastle to do well, there just won’t be enough goals to go around to make Ba a worthy candidate for the Golden Boot.

So…who would be a value bet in the Top Goalscorer market? Well, if you had Luis Suarez before the weekend, you’d have him at 16/1. After his hat-trick at Norwich, you can know get him at 7/1. And with Liverpool short of strikers, starting to hit form and about to start a run of games that includes Stoke and Reading at home, 7/1 might be the best value you can get on Suarez this season in the Outright markets. In any case, both Ba and Suarex are in fine form and well worth a bet in the First Goalscorer or Scorecast betting markets.

Elsewhere, early season value can be found in the relegation market. Bottom team Q.P.R. are serious value with Ladbrokes at 5/2 for relegation after Monday night’s home defeat to West Ham, although logic dictates that those odds will shorten significantly in the coming days. There will be some serious attrition this season at the lower end of the table, and the longer Q.P.R. spend at the foot of the table, the harder it will be to get away from there.

And a nice long shot for next weekend? Try Away-Home in the Half-Time/Full-Time market in the Man City-Sunderland game at 20/1. The corresponding fixture last year panned out just this way and City’s comeback sparked the beginning of their title charge. Sunderland are in good form and you can expect them to give City a game!

So after all the excitement the Premiership has begun last weekend and I’m sure we were all glued to the live football scores, but did the weekend really live up the high expectations(probably not if your Sports Betting Tips all went wrong!!) Okay we saw some flashes of brilliance last night from Aguero (who looks to be worth every penny of his transfer fee) and it was a fantastic goal for Larsson against Liverpool, but apart from that the weekend seemed quite ordinary.

With Fabregas leaving Arsenal following Ronaldo to Spain, what players can we count on to provide that bit of magic and excitement? Gone are the players of the past such as Ginola, Kinkladze, Zola and Le Tissier. Those were the players who would get the crowd on their feet and the kids trying to copy their tricks in the playground on a Monday morning.

Has the Premiership become more mundane with managers not allowing their players to express themselves? Have all the ‘world class’ players left to play abroad? Has the Premiership become less interesting?……only time will tell, but one thing fo sure to keep us interested is a football bet!!
