It’s not often that you will find really good value in the “straight-up-have-a-flutter-on-who-beats-who” market, but West Brom are 13/2 (BetVictor) away to Arsenal on Saturday. Bookies will probably point to West Brom’s defeat to Stoke and the fact that Arsenal are unlikely to lose at home twice. Still, nice odds…
On the South coast, Bet365 are offering 13/8 on more than goals being banged in between Southampton and Reading at St. Mary’s. That’s a bet that could come in before the half hour mark!
In the West Midlands, Villa host Stoke. Few goals would be expected from a fixture that has produced just 8 goals in the last 6. All signs are these 2 will go under the 2.5 goal mark, as each has done a lot recently, but the best you’ll do in that market is 4/6 with BlueSQ. In such a tight game, you can get 6/5 on Only One Team To Score. For better value, you can get 17/2 on an 0-0 draw.
At the Stadium of Light, Juan Mata is 7/2 in the Score/Win double for Chelsea over Sunderland. That same bet is 9/4 with SkyBet, so obviously there’s been a lot of interest in it there.
At the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, there will be two teams meeting who are having wildly successful seasons. Norwich are unbeaten in 8 and the last team they enjoyed such a spell was October 1989! Swansea are coming off the back of a famous win at The Emirates last week. So, this is a tough call. 2 form sides who could beat any Premiership team on their day. But we’re plumping for the Anytime Scorer market here, where Anthony Pilkington is 5/1. He’s been quiet of late, but this game should have goals and Norwich can bang a couple. Pilkington is overdue one.
But all eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium this weekend, as City and ManYoo face off in what will surely be one of the most pivotal games of the season. These games can be tight, cagey affairs…well, they are when they play at Eastlands, anyway! As such, this game could be decided by whichever keeper plays better. BetVictor are offering 16/1 on ANY KEEPER (De Gea or Hart) winning the Man Of The Match Award. That’s where our money is going!

Well, what a week. Man City are out of Europe in spite of the best efforts of Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi to do them a favour!

There will be plenty of punters out there today with furrowed brows…the ones who had a punt on Mark Hughes in the First Premier League Manager To Get The Sack market. With Roberto Di Matteo beating Sparky to it by a couple of days, the bookies will breathe a sigh a relief on that front.

All the talk coming out of Chelsea is that Rafa Benitez is happy to be “interim” manager on just a 7-month contact. Yes, well, if I was getting the money he’ll be getting over those 7 months then I’d happily shovel cow poop up and down the King’s Road. Throw in a few extra quid and I’d even think about cleaning John Terry’s kit for him.

The situation at Chelsea is a little ridiculous at this stage. You’d probably get better value in walking into a bookies and asking if you can nominate a date when Pep Guardiola gets sacked from the Chelsea job. You probably get a quote too!

Anyway, to the betting!

West Brom travel to the Stadium of Light with both teams coming off excellent wins last week. Sunderland were overdue a win and they will be looking to consolidate that with a result here. But West Brom are showing that they are a seriously decent side after their defeat of Chelsea last week. The draw seems on here and it’s decent value at 12/5 with SkyBet, although you can squeeze some value out of that with a Score-Draw flutter for slightly longer odds if you fancy.

ManYoo are available at 4/1 with a 3 goal handicap at home to QPR. QPR should be doing much better in the league, but they seem to have lost their Sparky! Expect goals galore at Old Trafford.

Swansea spoiled Liverpool’s end of season party last May and 13/5 looks like decent value to catch the Swans at home. And with this being Brendon Rodgers homecoming, they’ll have added incentive to spoil the party!

Villa travel to London in poor form and their recent failure to convert a 2 goal lead against ManYoo into a result will have hit morale hard. Arsenal should have fun with the Villains at The Emirates and you can get Olivier Giroud at 11/4 in the WiinCast. Go fot it!

This weekend’s big game will of course be Chelsea vs. Man City. There will be lots to talk about in the run up to this one, but your bet should be very simple! Footballs a funny old game, and time and again it takes a turn for the dramatic before the logical. So, with Torres reunited with Benitez, put your money on Fernando in the WinCast at 5/1 with BetFred. You just know it’s going to happen!

Have a good weekend!

Villa welcome Man United to Birmingham this weekend with the usual trepidation. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 16 trips to Villa Park, the longest sequence for any team to be unbeaten against an opponent. Many times in the past Villa have entertained United while they were flying high in the league, only for ManYoo to show up at Villa Park with a wake-up call. With Villa at something of a low ebb, ManYoo will fancy this to be a good time to plunder 3 points from the West Midlands.
A good bet for this game is Wayne Rooney. Rooney loves scoring against Villa. And he is particularly fond of scoring in braces. So, try him out for 2 or more goals at 6/1 with BlueSquare. In terms of shorter odds bets, consider an “Only One Team To Score” bet at 11/8 with Coral.
Reading really need to get motoring if they are to mount a serious bid to survive in the Premiership this season, and a home game to Norwich would seem the perfect opportunity. However, Norwich are in decent form and 23/10 (Paddy Power) for the away win seems like a decent bet. You can put some sauce on that bet by doubling it up to a WinCast with Grant Holt to score at any time at 7/1 with BetFred.
Man City and Spurs were in European action this week and while the latter had a facile win over Maribor, City were a mix of misfortune and mismanagement in drawing at home to Ajax. Spurs will be hoping that some of City’s European sluggishness translates into their Premiership play this weekend and they have reason to be hopeful of getting a result in Manchester. Spurs have done very well at City in recent years and at 5/1 with BetVictor they are decent value for a win at Eastlands.
The weekend’s big game sees Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge in the hopes of salvaging…well, anything from their season. Fernando Torres is 10/3 (888Sport) for the Score/Win Double against his own club. Who’d bet against him!?

Is it really that time of year again? When Arsenal travel to Old Trafford in the hopes of returning to London with some shred of dignity intact? Ah, does anyone remember the days when throwing a slice of pizza at Fergie was the most embarrassing thing that could happen in this fixture.
United have had the measure of Arsenal for a while now and victories for Arsenal at Old Trafford have been very few and far between. The added spice this year is provided by RVP’s defection to ManYoo, and there could be no more fitting way to add to the perpetual drama of this fixture than for RVP to score in a United win. You can back this at 9/5 with BetFred and BlueSQ.
Norwich City versus Stoke City…Norwich don’t score many and Stoke don’t concede many. There’s unlikely to be many goals scored in this tie so the 0-0 Draw looks like good value at 19/2 with BetVictor.
Sunderland-Villa. Once you get outside the Big 4 and the big Derby games, “Grudge Matches” really seem to be the Premiership ties that throw up the most interesting viewing. Martin O’Neill was far from a happy man when he left Aston Villa in 2010 and he will undoubtedly be hungry for a measure of revenge when the Villains travel to Wearside. Sunderland’s positive start to the season has stuttered just a little over the last few weeks, but an underwhelming Villa team should be perfect fodder to get the season back on track. You’ll struggle to find better than Evens for Sunderland to win, so perhaps consider adding value to your bet with the WinCast (Scorer/Win Double) where you can back Louis Saha at 4/1 or James McClean at 6/1, both with BetFred.
West Ham – Man City. Hard to think of this game without imagining lots of lovely goals. Edin Dzeko is in fine form and is good value at 11/2 for the First Goal. But also keep Carlos Tevez in mind as he returns to the club where he courted controversy and acclaim in equal measure. Tevez is 6/1 to bag 2 or more against the Hammers.
QPR-Reading. Reading are 13/8 to score first. Which is a very decent price since Reading aren’t bad at scoring but are better at conceding.
The weekend’s last big game is Liverpool-Newcastle. Liverpool are on course for a record low total of home league wins in a calendar year. However, their record against Newcastle at Anfield is impeccable and Newcastle have scored only once in their last 6 visits. The Pool are 1/2 in the outright betting so getting them at 6/4 as the Only Team To Score is much better value.
