It’s not often that you will find really good value in the “straight-up-have-a-flutter-on-who-beats-who” market, but West Brom are 13/2 (BetVictor) away to Arsenal on Saturday. Bookies will probably point to West Brom’s defeat to Stoke and the fact that Arsenal are unlikely to lose at home twice. Still, nice odds…
On the South coast, Bet365 are offering 13/8 on more than goals being banged in between Southampton and Reading at St. Mary’s. That’s a bet that could come in before the half hour mark!
In the West Midlands, Villa host Stoke. Few goals would be expected from a fixture that has produced just 8 goals in the last 6. All signs are these 2 will go under the 2.5 goal mark, as each has done a lot recently, but the best you’ll do in that market is 4/6 with BlueSQ. In such a tight game, you can get 6/5 on Only One Team To Score. For better value, you can get 17/2 on an 0-0 draw.
At the Stadium of Light, Juan Mata is 7/2 in the Score/Win double for Chelsea over Sunderland. That same bet is 9/4 with SkyBet, so obviously there’s been a lot of interest in it there.
At the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, there will be two teams meeting who are having wildly successful seasons. Norwich are unbeaten in 8 and the last team they enjoyed such a spell was October 1989! Swansea are coming off the back of a famous win at The Emirates last week. So, this is a tough call. 2 form sides who could beat any Premiership team on their day. But we’re plumping for the Anytime Scorer market here, where Anthony Pilkington is 5/1. He’s been quiet of late, but this game should have goals and Norwich can bang a couple. Pilkington is overdue one.
But all eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium this weekend, as City and ManYoo face off in what will surely be one of the most pivotal games of the season. These games can be tight, cagey affairs…well, they are when they play at Eastlands, anyway! As such, this game could be decided by whichever keeper plays better. BetVictor are offering 16/1 on ANY KEEPER (De Gea or Hart) winning the Man Of The Match Award. That’s where our money is going!

West Ham and Chelsea
A decent wager in this game can be found at Coral, who offer odds of 29/20 on either one of West Ham or Chelsea failing to score on Saturday. Given that Chelsea are coming off the back of two goalless draws, thems not bad odds.
Arsenal vs. Swansea
Bad and all as Swansea’s away form has been of late, Arsenal’s home form is terrible. Arsenal have won just 3 of their last 10 at home and only one of those 3 wins was against 11 men! A real value bet is Swansea+1 in the Handicap market at 17/10 with Paddy Power. Basically, your bet pays out if Swansea win or draw. Can’t say fairer than that!
Liverpool vs. Southampton
Liverpool have been leaving it late this season. The Half-Time/Full-Time market has Draw/Liverpool available at 10/3 at BWin. You can also get a very decent 7/2 on the league’s leading scorer, Luis Suarez, to score 2 or more goals against the league’s worst defence.
Man City vs. Everton
This is a match-up between the league’s best starters and the league’s strongest finishers. Everton have scored 2/3 of their goals in the first half, while City have scored 3/4 of theirs in the second. Are you thinking what I’m thinking!? Everton/City in the Half-Time/Full-Time is available at 28/1 if you fancy the punt. Don’t like the statistical approach? Well, have a look at Marouane Fellaini’s odds with BetFred in the ScoreCast. SkyBet and Ladbrokes have him at a very mediocre 9/1, but BetFred will give you 18/1 on the Belgian scoring in a Toffee’s victory!
QPR vs. Aston Villa
‘Arry gets his best chance for a first league win of the season when lowly Villa travel to Loftus Road on Saturday. There has been a flourish of betting in the Win market, so QPR lack value at Evens there. The ScoreCast offers better odds, with Djibril Cisse at 7/2 and the in-form Jamie Mackie at 4/1.
West Brom vs. Stoke City
Who can remember the last time the biggest derby in the Black Country featured these two!? West Brom are flying high and Stoke are on a fine run themselves, typified by their brilliant come-from-behind victory over Newcastle on Wednesday. This will be a tight game, but we can’t see Stoke winning it. Maybe you should look at the Score Draw at 19/5 with BetVictor or West Brom to win by 1 Goal at 29/10 with Ladbrokes. If you’re finding those to be a tough call then why not split your money on both? If either bet comes in, you’re still gonna be up!
Norwich City vs. Sunderland
The Sunday game this week is a repeat of the 1985 League Cup Final. What!? How do we remember that, you say!? Well, that was the last time two relegated teams faced off in a major cup final and it is also a game famous for featuring the youngest ever Wembley captain. Barry Venison was just 20 as he skippered Sunderland to a 1-0 defeat. In 2012, however, Norwich are doing very well, though they seem to save their best performances for bigger fry than Sunderland. However, we expect Sunderland’s miserable run to continue at Carrow Road. Grant Holt is 6/1 to be the first scorer, while Norwich are 3/1 for the win with a one goal handicap against.
Enjoy the weekend, folks!

Well, what a week. Man City are out of Europe in spite of the best efforts of Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi to do them a favour!
There will be plenty of punters out there today with furrowed brows…the ones who had a punt on Mark Hughes in the First Premier League Manager To Get The Sack market. With Roberto Di Matteo beating Sparky to it by a couple of days, the bookies will breathe a sigh a relief on that front.
All the talk coming out of Chelsea is that Rafa Benitez is happy to be “interim” manager on just a 7-month contact. Yes, well, if I was getting the money he’ll be getting over those 7 months then I’d happily shovel cow poop up and down the King’s Road. Throw in a few extra quid and I’d even think about cleaning John Terry’s kit for him.
The situation at Chelsea is a little ridiculous at this stage. You’d probably get better value in walking into a bookies and asking if you can nominate a date when Pep Guardiola gets sacked from the Chelsea job. You probably get a quote too!
Anyway, to the betting!
West Brom travel to the Stadium of Light with both teams coming off excellent wins last week. Sunderland were overdue a win and they will be looking to consolidate that with a result here. But West Brom are showing that they are a seriously decent side after their defeat of Chelsea last week. The draw seems on here and it’s decent value at 12/5 with SkyBet, although you can squeeze some value out of that with a Score-Draw flutter for slightly longer odds if you fancy.
ManYoo are available at 4/1 with a 3 goal handicap at home to QPR. QPR should be doing much better in the league, but they seem to have lost their Sparky! Expect goals galore at Old Trafford.
Swansea spoiled Liverpool’s end of season party last May and 13/5 looks like decent value to catch the Swans at home. And with this being Brendon Rodgers homecoming, they’ll have added incentive to spoil the party!
Villa travel to London in poor form and their recent failure to convert a 2 goal lead against ManYoo into a result will have hit morale hard. Arsenal should have fun with the Villains at The Emirates and you can get Olivier Giroud at 11/4 in the WiinCast. Go fot it!
This weekend’s big game will of course be Chelsea vs. Man City. There will be lots to talk about in the run up to this one, but your bet should be very simple! Footballs a funny old game, and time and again it takes a turn for the dramatic before the logical. So, with Torres reunited with Benitez, put your money on Fernando in the WinCast at 5/1 with BetFred. You just know it’s going to happen!
Have a good weekend!

What a week of International action. As I watched Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s ludicrous fourth goal flying into the Engllish net, I was struck by a memory. In my mind, I was cast back 10 years to an occasion when I myself scored a similar goal, albeit with a Sega Dreamcast controller in my hand as I played Virtua Striker 2. As the ball flew in, I threw the controller to the ground, protesting that the game was ridiculously unrealistic. Perhaps Zlatan played the same game in his youth.
So, will a similar goal be scored at Loftus Road this weekend? Un-bloody-likely. However, QPR are worth a flutter in the handicap market since Southampton boast a worse defence than Gary Glitter’s legal team. QPR’s season has to start at some timeYou can back QPR at 23/10 with a 1 goal handicap against at Stan James.
Also in the handicap market, check out Man City at 6/4 with a 2 Goal handicap against Villa. Villa couldn’t win an argument these days, so this looks like a value bet at Eastlands.
Raheem Sterling has looked like a promising prospect for Liverpool and he has frequently looked like a threat to score. You can back him as an anytime scorer against Wigan in a Liverpool win at 23/10 with Paddy Power.
Newcastle have enjoyed a hoodoo over Swansea in their recently match-ups. Swansea are in poor form and Newcastle have won 5 and drawn 2 of their last 7 meetings. Papiss Cisse is due a goal and you can back him in the WinCast at 14/5 with BetFred.
The last time West Brom were flying this high in the league, their players were being paid in pounds, shillings and pence. They are 3/1 with William Hill to beat Chelsea at home. Very decent odds and worth a few quid.
The big game of the weekend is the North London Derby. Arsenal and Spurs have played out more draws than any other Premiership fixture, so why break with tradition when you can back the draw at 11/4 at BoyleSports.
Right, I’m off up to the attic to find my Dreamcast and my old copy of Virtua Striker 2…
