With Manchester United winning the title, Manchester City guaranteed second spot and Chelsea guaranteed a Champions league spot it leaves one final spot up for grabs on the final game of the season. The rewards for finishing in the champions league spot is huge, both in terms of financial and the calibre of players clubs will be able to attract as a result of achieving it. It will be a cruel blow to whoever misses out on the spot.

Tottenham have been here before, believing they have the champions league spot before its guaranteed. Who can forget what happened to them last year when they finished 4th in the league and had to wait on the outcome of the champions league final to guarantee their place. It wasn’t to be, Chelsea managed to secure the trophy and thus take Tottenhams place in the elite European competition with Tottenham pushed down to a Europa League campaign. How ironic that a year later Chelsea would go on to win the Europa League, the competition that wanted to avoid 12 months earlier. Its last chance saloon for Tottenham. With Arsenals superior goal difference nothing but a win will do. Adebayor has been missing in action for 90% of the season but all of a sudden has found form. Many Tottenham fans think to themselves, where has he been all season? You have to wonder would Tottenham already have secured a Champions League spot if he’d shown this form all season. With all the nerves about and with Paolo in town its never going to be easy to get that all important victory. Di Canio has already threatened to cut short the Sunderlands squad holiday if he perceives they aren’t putting in 100% effort. I think Tottenham will come good and my tip is a home win at odds of 3/10

That prediction leaves Arsenal needing to beat Newcastle. Many critics have called this the poorest squad Arsenal have had in 10 years. Whether you agree with that or not you cannot deny Arsene’s record of getting Arsenal into the Champions League year after year. Reports suggest money is available to spend in the summer and Arsenal fans will be begging him to spend it. Newcastle have had a poor season. From finishing 5th last season to a relegation battle this season. More of a french revolution came in in january and they will need to start well next year or Pardew may be the first man to lose his job. A trip to the toon is never easy but i cant see Arsenal letting the champions league spot go and my tip is an Arsenal win at odds of 8/15

Chelsea will be on a high after the Europa League final but the last team you want to face is an Everton side. Everton wont give them an inch and Moyes will want a positive result in his last fixture. My tip is a draw at odds of 11/4

A season of transition at Anfield has left them finishing in 7th. At times they have played some lovely football, other times they have been outplayed. Rodgers is yet to find the consistency of results that the fans desire. They need to have a good a transfer window as they did in January, The impact of Coutinho and Sturridge on the team has seen Liverpool have an increasing attacking edge in the second half of the season. It will be an emotional day at Anfield on Sunday when Carragher hangs up his boot. A player who isn’t blessed with great technical skills but few could argue he wore his heart on his sleeve and a great servant to the club. Its a home banker at odds of 2/9

Manchester City sacked Mancini during the week. It was guaranteed after the FA Cup final loss. All in all its been a poor season for City but they will finish the campaign second and with a home win at odds of 1/3

Southampton have struggled a bit in recent weeks to get over the line but in truth they will be delighted to survive the first season back in the big time. Stoke are hit and miss too. I’l go for both teams to score at odds of 8/11

Swansea had a great first half of the season and did magnificently well to win the Capital One Cup. After that the season has tailed off a bit. For Fulham they look they have started their holiday already. A home win is the tip at odds of 7/10

Fergie’s last game in charge and he’l be wanting to go out with a win. West Broms form has been a disaster recently and i can see it continuing here. An away win at odds of 3/4.

West Ham and Sam Allardyce will be very pleased with the season. Sam has his own way of playing football and he gets players in that suit that. Reading for all the effort they give simple don’t have the quality to go with it. West Ham to wrap up the season with a home win at 2/3

The FA Cup winners bowed out of the league on Tuesday night with their poor defending again costing them. With Villa safe and missing Benteke it gives Darren Bent a 1 game shoot out to get himself in the shop window. Both teams to score at 4/7 is my tip

West Ham and Chelsea

A decent wager in this game can be found at Coral, who offer odds of 29/20 on either one of West Ham or Chelsea failing to score on Saturday. Given that Chelsea are coming off the back of two goalless draws, thems not bad odds.
Arsenal vs. Swansea

Bad and all as Swansea’s away form has been of late, Arsenal’s home form is terrible. Arsenal have won just 3 of their last 10 at home and only one of those 3 wins was against 11 men! A real value bet is Swansea+1 in the Handicap market at 17/10 with Paddy Power. Basically, your bet pays out if Swansea win or draw. Can’t say fairer than that!

Liverpool vs. Southampton

Liverpool have been leaving it late this season. The Half-Time/Full-Time market has Draw/Liverpool available at 10/3 at BWin. You can also get a very decent 7/2 on the league’s leading scorer, Luis Suarez, to score 2 or more goals against the league’s worst defence.

Man City vs. Everton

This is a match-up between the league’s best starters and the league’s strongest finishers. Everton have scored 2/3 of their goals in the first half, while City have scored 3/4 of theirs in the second. Are you thinking what I’m thinking!? Everton/City in the Half-Time/Full-Time is available at 28/1 if you fancy the punt. Don’t like the statistical approach? Well, have a look at Marouane Fellaini’s odds with BetFred in the ScoreCast. SkyBet and Ladbrokes have him at a very mediocre 9/1, but BetFred will give you 18/1 on the Belgian scoring in a Toffee’s victory!

QPR vs. Aston Villa

‘Arry gets his best chance for a first league win of the season when lowly Villa travel to Loftus Road on Saturday. There has been a flourish of betting in the Win market, so QPR lack value at Evens there. The ScoreCast offers better odds, with Djibril Cisse at 7/2 and the in-form Jamie Mackie at 4/1.

West Brom vs. Stoke City

Who can remember the last time the biggest derby in the Black Country featured these two!? West Brom are flying high and Stoke are on a fine run themselves, typified by their brilliant come-from-behind victory over Newcastle on Wednesday. This will be a tight game, but we can’t see Stoke winning it. Maybe you should look at the Score Draw at 19/5 with BetVictor or West Brom to win by 1 Goal at 29/10 with Ladbrokes. If you’re finding those to be a tough call then why not split your money on both? If either bet comes in, you’re still gonna be up!

Norwich City vs. Sunderland

The Sunday game this week is a repeat of the 1985 League Cup Final. What!? How do we remember that, you say!? Well, that was the last time two relegated teams faced off in a major cup final and it is also a game famous for featuring the youngest ever Wembley captain. Barry Venison was just 20 as he skippered Sunderland to a 1-0 defeat. In 2012, however, Norwich are doing very well, though they seem to save their best performances for bigger fry than Sunderland. However, we expect Sunderland’s miserable run to continue at Carrow Road. Grant Holt is 6/1 to be the first scorer, while Norwich are 3/1 for the win with a one goal handicap against.

Enjoy the weekend, folks!

Mark Hughes was probably tearing his silvery hair out by about the hour mark in the ManYoo-QPR game at the weekend. His own frustration at watching his old club take the lead at Old Trafford would have been on a par with ‘Arry Redknapp’s enthusiam . 8 minutes later and emotions had swapped. Normal service was resumed and Sparky could return to drinking tea and flicking through his Thomas Cook brochure, as ‘Arry rang the missus to tell her to cancel everything. ‘Arry has described the challenge ahead of him as the toughest of his career so far. And remember, he’s managed Bournemouth. Tuesday night’s draw away to Sunderland will have given ‘Arry cause for some solace though. But just some. One ray of sunshine for QPR though…their decision to let Joey Barton go out on loan may well have been a good one. The “troubled” striker is at Marseilles until the end of the season.

The QPR board are agreed that 800 miles should be a safe enough distance to prevent any Barton “episodes” upsetting the team. Indeed, 800 miles seems like a safe enough distance to have a laugh at Barton’s expense. Borussia Dortmund’s fans may have been watching too much Mission Impossible, but you have to admire their balls in executing a daring raid on arch-rivals Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena. As this video shows, the Dortmund fans sprayed their club’s logo in the Bayern VIP suit and, more impressively, managed to change the famed stadium lighting from Bayern Red to Borussia Yellow! In Ukraine, Serbian defender Nikola Ignjatijevic scored an amazing 20 yard header in injury time to give Metallurg Donetsk a win over Zorya.

What a pity that Ignjatijevic doesn’t play for Metallurg! As you can see from this video, the Zorya defender looks fairly sheepish after the gaff. But what was the keeper doing!!! The least said about the conduct of certain segments of the crowd at White Hart Lane last weekend the better. Suffice to say that football is better off without these elements in the game and fair play to West Ham’s management and owners for their swift reaction to the situation. The handful of scumbags causing all the fuss in North London are candidates for Villains of the Week, but Schiavi of Argentinian club Huracan wins it for this horrendous attack on referee Dario Fuenes. Schiavi and two of his Huracan team mates have been handed 6 year bans for the attack. In honesty, that’s a little bit lenient… Back on Thursday with some tips for the weekend!

Villa welcome Man United to Birmingham this weekend with the usual trepidation. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 16 trips to Villa Park, the longest sequence for any team to be unbeaten against an opponent. Many times in the past Villa have entertained United while they were flying high in the league, only for ManYoo to show up at Villa Park with a wake-up call. With Villa at something of a low ebb, ManYoo will fancy this to be a good time to plunder 3 points from the West Midlands.
A good bet for this game is Wayne Rooney. Rooney loves scoring against Villa. And he is particularly fond of scoring in braces. So, try him out for 2 or more goals at 6/1 with BlueSquare. In terms of shorter odds bets, consider an “Only One Team To Score” bet at 11/8 with Coral.
Reading really need to get motoring if they are to mount a serious bid to survive in the Premiership this season, and a home game to Norwich would seem the perfect opportunity. However, Norwich are in decent form and 23/10 (Paddy Power) for the away win seems like a decent bet. You can put some sauce on that bet by doubling it up to a WinCast with Grant Holt to score at any time at 7/1 with BetFred.
Man City and Spurs were in European action this week and while the latter had a facile win over Maribor, City were a mix of misfortune and mismanagement in drawing at home to Ajax. Spurs will be hoping that some of City’s European sluggishness translates into their Premiership play this weekend and they have reason to be hopeful of getting a result in Manchester. Spurs have done very well at City in recent years and at 5/1 with BetVictor they are decent value for a win at Eastlands.
The weekend’s big game sees Liverpool travel to Stamford Bridge in the hopes of salvaging…well, anything from their season. Fernando Torres is 10/3 (888Sport) for the Score/Win Double against his own club. Who’d bet against him!?
